It would be my pleasure to kindly introduce Eastern Mediterranean Health Genomics and Biotechnology Network (EMGEN), which was created in 2004 with collaboration of representatives of selected centres of excellence in (health related) biotechnology & genomics in the Eastern Mediterranean region by the recommendations of WHO/EMRO. Further information about EMGEN is available in www.emgen.net and www.emhgbn.net websites.
On the subject of EMGEN bylaw, EMGEN secretariat is going to hold third EMGEN Steering Committee Election in the electronic election mode.
This election will be lead to establish a steering committee comprising of senior health scientists, researchers, and biotechnology industrial sector representatives and responsible for advising on policy and strategic directions establishing priorities for research and development, and overseeing implementation and evaluation. Each country will hand in a nomination list well in advance. Based on EMGEN bylaw, the steering committee composition would be two from industry and five scientists. Among the seven members no two should be from the same country.
